January - June 2016
The NGO-Community Charity Carnival is an event for social services organisations and your community to get to know each other.
Thirty not-for-profit social organisations and government agencies will be at Tasik Taman Jaya, Petaling Jaya (Opposite Amcorp Mall) on Sunday, 8th December 2013 to provide information and services that are important to the well-being of the PJ Community.
There will also be food stallls, fun fair game stalls and charity sales stalls to help raise funds for these NGOs. So bring your family, friends and even your neighbours along for a fun-filled day.
Charity coupons can be purchased from participating NGOs and on the event day at the organisers' booth. Proceeds of sales via charity coupons will be in aid of participating NGOs to sustain their social programmes.
For more information on how you can contribute and be part of this charity carnival, write to us at email@example.com
WE have been in touch with our State Presidents in Kelantan, Trengganu, Pahang and Perak and it is not good news at all. Most of the TASKAS were under water and they are desperately trying to clean up in order to open their TASKAS as parents need to go to work and children need to have access to care, education, health, nutritional needs and play. Reports coming back from our State Presidents in the East Coast States indicate that they are unable to reach most of their members due to poor communications and the fact that they and their families are also struggling to cope with the disaster.
We are appealing for the items listed above as an essential PRIORITY list for the first phase of Banjir Outreach 4 TASKAS where we would like to see our TASKAS here help to mobilise donations of these items from parents and the public. Print and post this up on your TASKA Notice Board. Share on social media .Small items can be dropped off at PPBM
In addition if you have old usable TASKA furniture and electrical items such as refrigerators and other small electrical items etc do let us know as well. For larger items we will arrange transport to pick up.
We are trying to collate info to see what each affected TASKA needs most urgently. From what little we have gathered we have the following info:-
most have had furniture ,bedding, toys , stationery, kitchen equipment destroyed .Clean water is hard to come by (this was confirmed by one JKMM Pengarah who was in Kelantan yesterday who stated that water is the most needed item for drinking and cleaning )Most importantly imp items such as fridges (making food storage difficult) and stoves have been damaged ( note ; we have a company willing to donate gas stoves if needed ) Toys , stationery and play materials for the children have to be replacedPersonal effects - Children's clothes , shoes, bags, stackable cots, mattresses, toiletries, diapers, baby wipes, are neededFirst aid kits / vitamins / medicine ( inhalers, cough, flu medicine)Cleaning materials and equipment neededElectricity not restored in some areas - need ready to eat canned food (sardines etc) bread , biscuits , fruits , UHT Milk (for older kids)
PPBM and some State Associations are working on some of the following .Any help from your TASKAS or Organisations will be most welcome :-

3. PHASE 2 : TASKA 4 TASKA and PARENT 2 PARENT PROJECT Once we receive info on specific TASKA needs we hope your TASKAS or Companies in KL / Selangor and other States can be part of our “ Adopt a TASKA Project “ where your TASKA and your parents can help a flood affected TASKA to meet the needs of their parents and children who are from the lower income sector
4. SUPPLIERS REACH OUT This will see us working with suppliers to either donate or give at cost items that are most needed - includes suppliers of furniture, books, toys, learning materials ,Mattresses / stackable cots , toiletries , stationery , infant care products etc. Do help if you know any suppliers WE estimate that as a start we will need at least a minimum of RM5000 to maximum of RM10,000 to get each affected TASKA to obtain essential items to re start their centres. We are collating info with our State Associations and respective State JKM on the numbers affected . For home based TASKAS we estimate the costs to be about RM2,000 . Will need t least a week to collate detailed info. Unicef Malaysia has indicated their support to help with funding for some items needed urgently. We are have on standby volunteers and transport (on land and by air) to help deliver items to the centres in the East Coast and Perak
Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated. This is a time when we need to reach out and help our fellow Malaysians and their children .
