Talk 1 (Diagnostic Autism): Dr. Joseph Perron
Do you know the recent diagnostic changes in the DSM-V?Learn about the recent changes to the diagnostic criterias of autism and how this affects you and your child.
Talk 2 (Practical Strategies for Families): Jochebed Isaacs
An interactive session where you will get the opportunity to raise your most pressing questions. This talk is aimed to provide you with the tools in handling your daily dilemmas with your child from refusing to eat to refusing to have a hair cut at the barber.
Facilitators:
Dr. Joseph Perron, PHD, BCBA, is a clinical psychologist and also a board certified behaviour analyst. He has worked with various including The Southern Wisconsin Center and Bethesda Luther Home. He has worked extensively with individuals with mental retardation. Since 1999, Dr. Perron has shifted his focus to children with autism. In 2008, Dr. Perron joined Wisconsin Early Autism Project. At WEAP, Dr. Perron is involved in diagnosis, intensive treatment programmes and recently also handles outpatient treatment programmes. Dr. Perron is very passionate about supporting individuals with autism in leading fulfilling lives.
Jochebed Isaacs, M. Clin. Psych., BPSYCH, is the director at Early Autism Project Malaysia. She holds a master of clinical psychology and a bachelor of psychology and has worked with many children in USA, Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia. SHe has trained parents, therapists, and professionals on a variety of topics including ABA, discrete trial, play, social and language skills, and developing positive behaviour support plans.
